The importance of back-ups

Backups are one of those things similar to insurance, that we hope we never need to use, but when we do need them, they’re essential.  Back-ups are the insurance policy for your data.

Just like insurance, it’s also something we don’t like to think about too much, or spend much time over.  If a back-up isn’t made automatically it won’t happen, no matter how strong our good intentions are in the beginning.

That’s why all our virtual servers come with automatic back-ups as standard.  Hopefully you’ll never need them, but if you do, you’ll be glad that they’re there.

James Zawinski has  a short (and strongly worded) guide to back-ups for home computers [Maybe NSFW].

Please wait until Tuesday for a reply if you need to contact the above during this time, thank you.

Technical support for existing customers will still be available as normal.

Monthly means monthly

We’d like to clarify that our displayed monthly prices are indeed what you pay on a monthly basis.

Unfortunately, there’s quite a few hosting companies around that advertise a monthly cost, only for the potential customer to find that to pay that price they must pay for a year (or two) upfront in advance, and that the real price for monthly billing is much higher.

This practice may be legal, but it certainly isn’t honest.

Here at Smart VPS, when we say monthly, we mean monthly.   No yearly up front payments, no long term contract.
